Inspiring Change Through the RCR Writing Contest

RCR Writing Contest: Raising Awareness & Empowering Voices

At Rwanda Cancer Relief (RCR), we believe that storytelling is a powerful tool for change. The RCR Writing Contest provides a platform for individuals to share personal experiences, raise awareness, and debunk myths surrounding cancer. By encouraging storytelling, we foster understanding, inspire action, and give a voice to those affected by cancer.

Why the RCR Writing Contest Matters

  • Encourages public engagement in the fight against cancer through creative expression.
  • Raises awareness about cancer’s impact on patients, families, and communities.
  • Debunks myths and misconceptions surrounding cancer treatment and survival.
  • Empowers cancer survivors and caregivers to share their stories and inspire others.

How the Contest Works

Each year, participants from different backgrounds submit essays, poems, or stories reflecting on cancer awareness, resilience, and hope. The contest features:

  • Two categories: Adults (18+) and Youth (Under 18).
  • Judging by experts and cancer advocates.
  • Winning stories featured in awareness campaigns, educational materials, and media platforms.
  • Recognition and awards for the best entries, encouraging more people to engage in cancer advocacy.

Impact of the RCR Writing Contest

25+ submissions each year, showcasing diverse perspectives on cancer. ✔ 6 winners (3 per category) recognized for their compelling stories.
Thousands reached through published stories and media coverage.
Increased awareness and advocacy, shaping a more informed and supportive society.
